Introduction

In our world today, there are unlimited techniques, methods, theories, and viewpoints that try to overcome a problem. Depending on the situations we are most likely agree with viewpoint of the person whose most knowledgeable on the topic, however, the other viewpoints discussed are not always wrong. Despite having possible major differences, it could be seen as having only one piece of the puzzle. This type of mindset is what it means to be interdisciplinary, where one can potentially finish the puzzle. Understanding and creativity are the backbone of what interdisciplinary individuals who are faced with difficult situations that require multiple disciplines.

I am a University of Central Florida student that is currently earning a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Health Informatics and Information Management. As a student who is concentrating on computational sciences, I understood that this area was large, but I did not understand how open and vast it really was, until becoming an IDS student. Like many other students, I was always debating if I chose the right path in studying technology, instead of health, but ever since entering IDS, I realized that the two can really relate to one another. I would ultimately like to focus on is the improvements needed for both the health facilities and their patients. For all my life, it has been instilled in me to always be kind and help people when you can. I may not be able to personally help them, but using my IT experience and skills I can always make sure that the technology needed for them are always available and always improving.

I have focused my studies towards Computational Sciences, Letters and Modern Languages, and Health Informatics and Information Management, allowing me to pursue my information technology interests that also will be able to indirectly help people in all their health needs. As I work to finish my undergraduate studies, I intend to further my knowledge with multiple certifications in both fields, starting with the CompTIA certification. Getting to use my technical knowledge through creative means and being open minded, seem like the perfect opportunity to make a difference in not only my life, but in many people’s lives.
